After graduating in December ’04 from Emerson College with a B.A. in Visual and Media Arts, Marjorie left her native east coast to start her career in Los Angeles, CA. She began work in commercial and music video production, and has since branched out to include television and film as well. For the past five years, Marjorie has worked freelance in LA, NY, and internationally as both a production and art department coordinator (Local 871 in Los Angeles, and USA-829 in New York). However, most recently she has become involved with the “green” movement within the film industry, which influenced her decision to relocate to Austin, Texas. Marjorie currently calls Austin home and is working on developing resources for filmmakers to make their productions less wasteful and more sustainable.
In addition to her career pursuits, Marjorie has also made travel a priority and has visited India and Southeast Asia, West Africa, and much of Europe. Fortunately, production work also frequently took her away from Los Angeles. From Nevada to New York, Mexico to Bangkok, Marjorie has found herself working around the globe in various aspects of film and television production. During these travels, her interest in photography grew and developed into her appropriately titled company, Little Nomad Photography and the accompanying stock photo site, Little Nomads.
Thus Marjorie has become known to be a bit nomadic by her friends and colleagues, but being open to whatever opportunities come her way has suited her well thus far.
Naturally, “we’ll see” is her favorite phrase, followed closely by “why not?”
And red is her favorite color.
